Senior Vanessa Jules finished sixth in the heptathlon at the NCAA Track and Field Championships Friday at Hayward Field and in doing so, became a first team All-American.

After four events on Thursday, Marshall senior Vanessa Jules is in fifth place in the heptathlon at the NCAA Track and Field Championships.

With a school-record mark of 6.41 meters (21-1/2), Marshall senior Crystal Walker placed fifth in the long jump Wednesday at the NCAA Championships at Hayward Field.

Vanessa Jules and Crystal Walker will represent Marshall at the NCAA Track and Field Championships held June 5-8 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.

Marshall assistant coach Willie Johnson and senior Vanessa Jules have been named Mid-Atlantic Region Assistant Coach of the Year and Mid-Atlantic Region Women's Field Athlete of the Year, respectively, announced the USTFCCCA Monday afternoon.

Senior Crystal Walker placed third at the NCAA East Preliminaries in the long jump on Thursday and is Marshall's Student-Athlete of the Week.
